Auction, Bowling, Music & Charity
Our charity for Bouchercon 2011 will be the St. Louis County Library System. They are a mystery friendly bunch and do a lot to support not only mystery authors but the community of St. Louis. To raise money for them we will have a live auction, a silent auction and a bowling tournament.
On Wednesday evening, September 14, at 6:00 p.m. Subterranean Books and Bouchercon will present Charlaine Harris and Laurell K. Hamilton in a special evening to benefit the St. Louis public library. Buy tickets here.
The bowling tournament will be held Friday afternoon at the Flamingo Bowl. There will be a cover charge of $5 dollars to watch our 12 rocking teams battle it out for fabulous trophies, to be awarded at the beginning of the Anthony Awards. All money raised will go to our charity.
We have some entertainment news as well. On Saturday night we have live music from Max Allan Collins and his band Cruisin. During the performance they will be hosting some special musically inclined author guests.
Thrills! Chills! Dinner! Cocktails! Awards! The 30th annual PWA Shamus Awards Banquet will be Friday night, September 16, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at a St. Louis institution. No, we’re not telling you which institution it is. It’s a suprise – a great surprise, trust us, and transportation will be provided from the hotel. Tickets are $60, and seats are limited, so email Bob Randisi at [email protected] right this very minute for more information and to order your ticket.
The auction chairs will be handling donations and soliciting items for auction. It will be determined by the committee which items will be in the live auction and which will be in the silent auction. Some items may be combined. We ask that donations be brought to or delivered to the hotel by Thursday if possible.
The auction chairs are Jeremy Lynch & Annie Chernow.
